Consumer Reports Insights: Statins are potent drugs, but they carry risks
The Food and Drug Administration this year expanded the indications for taking rosuvastatin (Crestor), a particularly powerful statin, to include some people with a normal LDL level if they have a high level of C-reactive protein (CRP), a marker for inflamed coronary arteries.
