How to deal with bare patches in lawns

Bare patches in lawns can be seeded now for a few months of green, but count on a permanent reseeding with a mix of turf-type tall fescue in late summer. Lay crabgrass preventer through mid-April to stop weed germination. Organic gardeners can use corn gluten, which also feeds the lawn.
