J. Fred Shiffman has played many, many roles on Washington stages since the early 1980s, from Zeppo Marx to a stiff-upper-lip British officer, to an obsessive-compulsive hypochondriac, to a perfectionist singing head waiter. His most recent lead role was Felix Ungar in ?The Odd Couple? at Theater J last fall.
As a comic actor with what the Studio Theatre?s former artistic director Joy Zinoman calls ?transformational? abilities, Shiffman has earned three Helen Hayes Awards and 12 nominations. But now the lanky actor is hanging up his theatrical spurs to become a talent agent.
